Being healthy does not always mean the "absence" of disease or illness. Not all conditions, illnesses or diseases can be completely "healed", but they can be improved drastically. We will look for healing and seek relief where it exists, but complete healing is a journey that usually consists of time and setbacks. To be healthy is to live and function as optimally as possible with your condition. The finding of harmony and balance in the midst of a storm.
There cannot be good mental health by ignoring the physical or spiritual health of the individual and vice versa. Counseling with a holistic health approach looks at the body, mind and spiritual elements and their interconnection. It examines the underlying causes of the symptoms and encourages a variety of alternative health remedies, all with the goal of finding SPIRIT WELLNESS.
SPIRIT WELLNESS is frame of mind in which we transcend our physical and psychological limitations to create for ourselves a state of emotional stability, contentment, and happiness in spite of them.
I learned years ago that there is very little we can control in this world. People find themselves worrying about and attempting to control that which they can't, or shouldn't. Such control issues can lead to depression, anxiety, anger, addictions, and marital issues among others. I have worked many years with people that have spent their lives in fear over what they cannot control and have created much pain and sorrow for themselves and those closest to them due to these and other related issues.
Our own attitude is the only thing we really can control. SPIRIT WELLNESS is coming to realize and accept this and making the emotional, physical, and psychological commitment to transform from a life of stress and discord to a life of happiness, contentment, and freedom.
