PTSD AND TRAUMA

“Trauma is a paradox. The more you try to avoid/forget about it, the more it will affect your life. If you face it and work through it, you can gain control over it. On the other side of fear is everything you want”. - F MARSCHNER

I have been treating trauma and PTSD since first learning EMDR Therapy in the fall of 1997. I completed a 1 year (2000-01) internship at the Batavia residential PTSD program in which I would for 1 half day a week participate in group therapy sessions with combat vets.

I am versed in a number of trauma therapies, to include:
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
Progressive Counting (PT)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Although not certified in EMDR, I have taken a number of advanced classes in EMDR to include; coping strategies, pain management, performance enhancement, dissociation and egostate/parts work. I am well versed in the standard EMDR protocol and have helped many over the years achieve a sense of peace.  I have also used the recent event protocol with a number of clients as well.

I treat complex and simple trauma cases. I treat  first responders regularly and have over the years worked with veterans intermittently.

Other areas of trauma I treat include;
Medical issues
Adult Children of Alcoholism/Addiction
Conversion Disorders (psychological issues coming out in a physical way)
Emotional, Physical, and Sexual Abuse
Accidents
Domestic Violence victims
Medical Trauma,
Pet Loss

If you don’t see your issue listed, please contact me to see if I may be able to help you.

For complex PTSD cases; I offer accelerated Trauma Therapy. This is trauma therapy for those that want to get through treatment quickly. The idea is to have much longer sessions than the normal hour allotted in normal sessions. Participants would spend 3 to 5 hours with me, taking time out for breaks and lunch (with longer sessions), with the goals of putting coping strategies in place and then working through traumatic memory after traumatic memory. This type of therapy isn't for everyone and isn't covered by insurance. Please contact me to see if it would be right for you.
